News from the Principal
Hi all,
How quickly the 11 weeks of term 4 have flown by! With just two weeks remaining in the school year, this will be our final newsletter for 2024. What an incredible year it has been, filled with fantastic learning opportunities and plenty of fun in every classroom. The excitement continues, as there are still a few more events planned over the next 10 days, making it a very busy conclusion to the school year.
This term, the staff at Rosella Park School have been hard at work collaborating to establish the class groups for 2025. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in these discussions—your dedication and teamwork have been outstanding. Your efforts have ensured that our class placements are student-focused and tailored to meet the individual needs of each learner. Additionally, we have recently completed the process of assigning teachers and teacher aides to specific cohorts and classes for the upcoming year.
The class groupings for 2025 will be mailed home by the end of Week 10. Continuing our school tradition, these groupings will also be displayed during the P&C Christmas Celebration on Tuesday, 10th December, in Week 11. If you have any concerns after reviewing the class list, please don’t hesitate to reach out to schedule a meeting with me.
With just two weeks left in the school year, there is much to look forward to! Keep an eye out for these upcoming events:
- End-of-Year Concert and Awards Presentation – Monday, 2nd December
- PBL Rewards Day (Juniors & Intermediates) – Tuesday, Week 10, Session 1
- Pool PBL Rewards Day (Seniors & Transition) – Wednesday, Week 10, Session 1
- P&C Family Christmas Party – Tuesday, 10th December (Please make sure you return your RSVP slip by Friday 6th December)
We’re excited for these celebrations and hope to see you there!
Last week, I had the privilege of attending the Year 12 Graduation Ceremony alongside many members of our Rosella Park School community. It was a truly memorable evening of celebration and joy. The night was all about our graduates—their remarkable achievements, the excitement of dressing in formal attire, and the thrill of being the stars of the evening.
I am incredibly proud of our 2024 graduates. Their hard work, dedication, and determination have been evident to all. They should take immense pride in their accomplishments. This year’s graduating class has not only represented Rosella Park School with distinction but has also served as inspiring role models for younger students.
Please join me in extending our best wishes to the following 2024 graduates as they embark on the next chapter of their lives:
- Holly-Ann Richards-Moody – School Captain
- Lane Beardmore – School Captain
- Zac Day
- Jessy Delioglanis
- Jack Low
- Seth Palmer
- Tyler Roberts
- Kassidy Ashworth
- Troy Lewis
- Allie Shields
We are so proud of you all and look forward to seeing the wonderful things you will achieve in the future.
A reminder to all families that term 1 in 2025 begins on Tuesday 28th January.

For Science this semester Junior 2 students have been learning to follow a sequence of steps to complete an activity. We learned how to make our own sandwiches by following a visual sequence with the added bonus of eating them for lunch. We did this activity over three weeks until we were able to complete the activity with some independence.

Hello families,
Wow ! another school year is rapidly coming to a close. Junior 3 has had a fantastic year getting to know each other, learning new things and participating in a lot of fun new experiences. This term students have particularly enjoyed water play, Adventureland and going to the activity room in L block. In the classroom we have had a great time decorating the room in festive cheer, listening to Christmas songs and stories and creating wonderful artwork. We have even re-created some festive songs to include our names and favourite places. Thank you to all of our parents for being so supportive and welcoming; it has been a pleasure getting to know you all. We hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and New Year and look forward to seeing you all in on Tuesday 28th January, 2025 to begin a new term 1.
Merry Christmas and be safe from the staff of Junior 3.
Intermediate 1 - Mrs Maguire
Welcome to the end of Semester 2. Students have successfully finished all testing of their individual goals for English, Maths, Science, Japanese, art, History and Geography. They have working really hard over the year. They have been a pleasure to teach and I have enjoyed watching their engagement with each other and the curriculum. We have all earnt a beautiful long holiday. Merry Safe Christmas and a happy new year. See you in 2025.
Intermediate 2 - Mr Mark
Intermediate 2 have been enjoying learning in many different curriculum areas. We have been learning to sequence events in correct order as well as looking at the duration of particular events. We have learnt about memories that are special and occasions that we celebrate as a family. We have looked at places that are special to different people and studied how to best take care of our plants and pets. We also had fun learning our song for the Christmas concert and decorating our gingerbread house. It has been an awesome year for Intermediate 2.

During terms 2, 3 and 4 the students of Intermediate 3 have been going out weekly on community access excursions. We have visited the Regional Library, Coles to purchase ingredients for our cooking sessions and the Tondoon Botanical Gardens. We have packed in heaps of learning and had loads of fun running the programme and it has been a huge success!

Intermediate 5 - Miss Pauline
Throughout Semester 2, the boys in Intermediate 5 have enjoyed engaging in visual arts activities with Mrs Ward. They have been encouraged to participate in a variety of different art lessons using a variety of art mediums to create their own individual artworks. It has been wonderful to see the awesome pieces of art they have created.

Can you believe it’s been a year?!
Intermediate 6 has grown in so many ways…
I wasn’t the only teacher in the room. The students have taught me so much. I think we have all, kids included, developed more patience, understanding, empathy and gained greater communication skills.
So many goals have been achieved and not just in curriculum learning. I believe friendship has been the greatest achievement in our room. We love watching the kids hold hands and treat each other like siblings. They will be friends for life…
We would need a 200-page newsletter all to ourselves as there are way too many photographic moments to share. We have loved our year together!
Have a wonderful and safe Xmas together and remember we’ll always be Rosella family! ❤

Senior 1 - Miss Cindy
It is very close to the end of the school year and my time as the Senior 1 teacher. It has been a very rewarding year and I have enjoyed working with all of the Senior 1 students. Sports day was a big hit and all students showed their individual talents. They were engaged and showed great sportsmanship. The students of Senior 1 have been doing some great learning and are continuing to express our talents in the culinary, arts and crafts domains. Thank you for a great year!

Senior 2 - Mr Mike
As we approach the end of another school year, our thoughts naturally turn to how the year has developed. We reflect on how we and our students have learned and changed over the course of the previous twelve months.
When one has spent more than three decades in education, it would be easy to fall prey to the cynicism of the teacher in the Book of Ecclesiastics when he declares “Meaningless! Meaningless! Everything is meaningless… what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” However, while such thoughts might be understandable, they are also wrong.
However many times the teacher has been through the academic year, everything is new for his students. That is what keeps education so interesting and exciting. It might be the 33rd(!) time for the teacher but it's always the first time for the students. The challenge is to remember this and keep everything fresh for those going through what are, for them, brand-new experiences.
When I was considering the end of year awards, I was struck by how difficult they were to decide because all of my students have achieved so much and have made so much progress. I would like to pay tribute to all my Senior 2 students for 2024 – Ethan, Tyriq, Noah, Tyler and Blair - for the work they have done and the growth they have achieved. I wish them all the best for their studies in 2025.
Happy Christmas to all Senior 2 students, their families and carers.
Senior 3 - Miss Susan

As we come to the close of another wonderful year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible growth and learning we've shared. This year has been filled with curiosity, determination, and countless achievements, and I am so proud of each and every student for their hard work and dedication.
To my amazing students, thank you for bringing your enthusiasm and unique talents to our classroom. You’ve grown so much, not only in your skills and knowledge but also in your confidence and character. I am excited to see all the great things you’ll accomplish in the future.
Wishing you all a joyous holiday season filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with your loved ones. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

What a busy few weeks we have had! Shows at the Entertainment Centre, assessments, school camp and all our final preparations for graduation.
We would like to make a special mention to the businesses who have supported our recycling program over the last two years. This program contributed approximately $500 to each student to help keep camp costs affordable. Thank you for your ongoing support MST Global, Flexihire, Busteed Building Supplies, BCF, Youngs Contractors, Sydney Tools, Blood Bank, Optimal Pharmacy, Maritime Safety Queensland, Shaw Bobcat Hire, AMP Control, Headspace, Monadelphous and Tradelink.
We all had an amazing time at school camp. We went to the Gold Coast, enjoyed an all you can eat Pizza Hut restaurant on the way, saw the Outback Spectacular, went on Roller Coasters at Movie world and even got to see Mrs Hucker at her new school. Her school is huge; we all loved it. We went out to dinner, got to see Harbour Town, enjoyed activities like swimming and a Bear Grylls Survival course at our caravan park. We finished it all off with a delicious lunch at Mollydookers at Apple Tree Creek on the way home.
Our year 12 Graduation was such a great night. We organised fantastic cars for the graduates, enjoyed a wonderful buffet meal which was planned by the students and everyone had a fabulous night. Miss Carly provided amazing entertainment and tunes for us all. We congratulate Jessy D, Jack, Tyler, Zach and Holly on their achievements over the past 12 years of schooling. Whilst it is a sad time for us; we are also very proud of them and excited to see where their futures lead.
The Christmas Concert on Monday 2nd of December was another great event. The students did a fantastic job and congratulations to all our award winners.
We thank everyone for their support over the last year and wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Here we are at the end of another year. It has gone so fast that I don’t know where to begin. Firstly, Tammy, Sara and I would like to thank each and everyone of you for all your support over the last 12 months. Working with Lane, Jesse, Troy, Allie, Shontae, Kassidy and Oscar has been an absolute pleasure. We are so proud of all their accomplishments from working in the café and tuckshop, making items for our craft pop up store, visiting and reviewing all the various NDIS services and agencies around town, representing our school at civil ceremonies like Remembrance Day, attending sports programs, going on school camp and many, many more programs and activities.
Activities that rounded off our year included the Year 12 Graduation, the end of the year Christmas Concert and our pop-up shop. Look out for details and photos on Dojo. Don't forget the P&C Christmas party on Tuesday 10th December. Please make sure you return your RSVP slip.
As the year comes to an end, we take this opportunity to wish our year 12 students all the best for their future endeavours. Lane, Allie, Troy and Kassidy the world is your oyster and we look forward to hearing about all the great things you will achieve.
Lastly, we wish everyone a great Christmas period and a safe and happy holiday.

Visual Arts and Japanese - Mrs Thornton
Over the first few weeks of Term 4 the students have created some beautiful artworks! These included paper mache pumpkins inspired by Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama, painted paper collage inspired by Eric Carle (author/illustrator of The Hungry Caterpillar), tissue paper and cardboard collage inspired by Matisse and lots more.
In Japanese studies, the students have continued to impress me by using Japanese greetings around the school. Some of the main greetings they have been using are: Konnichiwa (hello), Sayonara (goodbye), Genki desu (I’m well/good), Douzo (here you go), and Arigatou (thank you). It is impressive how the students at Rosella Park School have engaged with Japanese with such a positive attitude and willingness to try something new. They really have been amazing and I am very grateful I have had the opportunity to teach Japanese to these students and see how much they have learned.
I am saying Sayonara to Rosella Park school while I go to an exciting teaching opportunity in Thailand for a while. I will miss doing art and Japanese with the amazing students here and hope to come back again in the future.

Communication Lead Support Person (CLSP)
Hi there, my name is Janice Buckle and I am the Communication Lead Support person at Rosella Park School.
What is better than one iPad? TWO !!

CLSP continued....

From historical experience here at Rosella we have learnt that students who have two devices i.e. ONE dedicated to just their Voice/Communication System and the other device dedicated to games and activities, makes for better progress at school than those who use the one device for both; speaking and games. The device dedicated to your child’s communication needs to be their device only and their’s alone for ‘speaking’. The ‘speaking/communication’ device is the only one that needs to be sent into school, please keep the game/activity iPad/device at home.
Also, it is important that the communication device is always fully charged and ready for use at school each day. This way we do not lose time waiting for it to be useful.
